Owls!!

I love Owls! And I love purple. And I love Chevrons. Which makes this quilt one of my favorites because it combines all three things!

Isn't it darling? I outlined the owls and quilted a pebble design in the background behind them. Then, everywhere else in the center of the quilt I quilted a pointed hook/paisley design (is that what you'd call it? If it has an actual name, let me know so I can stop calling it the Paisley-Hook-thingy Design) :)

In the inner border at the top and bottom I quilted a tight figure 8, and then I quilted a loose wishbone across the chevron outer border.

I used a grey thread which worked really nicely with the purples and greys in the quilt.

Wool Flowers

On this beautiful quilt with wool applique I quilted feathers (surprise, surprise!) and a lot of modern lines.

In the blocks I did two different designs: Either this one:

Or this one: I thought it would be fun to highlight the pinwheel aspect of this block, so I quilted back and forths in half of the triangles to give some texture but also to highlight the pinwheels.

In the background behind the flowers I quilted lines to signify air, and I stitched around the wool applique. You can see in this picture that I quilted feathers in the setting triangles and also in the outer border.

In the corner squares of the quilt I quilted a feathered wreath.

I used white colored thread across the whole quilt.

Mosaic Quilt

On this beautiful mosaic quilt I quilted a loose geometric meander.

It looks really cool with the geometric pattern of the quilt blocks.

I used white colored thread.

Allons-y!

I am a nerd. And I love Doctor Who. Especially the 10th Doctor (David Tennant). So, one day when the shop was closed and I ended up spending the day at home with the kids, I decided to make a quick little project to hang by my front door. Yep, there it is. And guess what? I quilted it on my home machine (and oh my gosh was it a pain in the butt!). I also machine bound it. Please pay no attention to the awful machine binding job I did. I really just wanted it to be done. hehehe

There are currently plans in the works to make a better version of this using the longarm. I'm excited about this. My husband? Not so much. haha

Chevron Quilt

Chevrons are the it-thing, and that's good because I LOVE them! This quilt is so fun and I had a blast quilting it.

In the pink setting triangles I quilted small circles in varying sizes. Then, in the pink and blue chevron stripes I quilted a large feather.

In the orange/red chevron strips I echoed the seam 1/4 inch inside, and then quilted a back and forth vertical line design.

Here's a view of the back. You can kind of see the difference in quilting between each strip (you might have to click on the photo to make it larger in order to see, but trust me, it's there!) :)

Wood Grain Flannel

This flannel quilt was so much fun to quilt. It was for a young man from his mother. She left the quilting design up to me. I didn't want to do something typical, like a meander, or stars, or loops. In Angela Walter's book she shows you how to do a wood grain and I thought, "How cool would that look on this masculine flannel?" So I went for it. And it turned out so amazing!

I threw in some knots every once in a while to give the design a little interest. The whole quilt is quilted in the grain, even over the borders.

Flag Quilt

This flag quilt is so fun. I love the different designs in each of the flags.

I quilted a loose wishbone design in the black border. In the background of the quilt I quilted an all-over, tight meander. And then I stitched in the ditch around each of the flags and did a vertical line design inside.

It gave the quilt some great texture and variety, especially on the back. I love that my client pieced this fun strip of color down the back center.
