What I've been up to....besides working :)

Here's me, in my skirt that I made out of Art Gallery. I wish they could've gotten a closer picture. The skirt turned out way cute.

I made this bag from this pattern on Moda Bake Shop. I used fabrics from the Soiree line.

I'm also doing Gracie Lou's BOM. It's a darling quiet book. The patterns are a little tricky at times, mostly because there aren't any illustrations to aid with what you're supposed to do, but it is totally worth it. It is so cute! Currently working on page 3.....stay tuned! :)

This was page 2. He was the hardest so far, I think. And the most time consuming. So much zig-zag stitching! haha

I am also taking a class at Longarm University. These are my fabrics. The quilting portion of the class starts on Saturday. The quilt top is supposed to be finished and on the machine by Saturday. YIKES! I just barely cut the pieces out. The big piece pictured above is the backing fabric. The checkerboard fabric is the binding. The striped blue/white is the border, the dark blue is for the blocks, and the dot is for the background. Can't wait to see how it turns out! :)

Goodnight Sock Monkey!

This quilt is a shop sample for Gracie Lou's. Isn't it so cute?! I love that the monkeys are wearing their jammies.

The lady who brought me the quilt wanted a large meander done. I tried not to cut any monkeys in half with the quilting. It turned out really cute. I used a dark brown (I think it's called Chestnut?) thread.

Pinwheels for Baby

This quilt was brought to me by a lady whose grandbaby was due any day. She wanted it quilted similarly to the pattern.

I outlined the yellow pinwheels with eggshell colored thread. I did a triangular/geometric meander in eggshell colored thread in the white triangles. In the red triangles I did a geometric meander in a scarlet colored thread. In the blue pinwheels I did a ribbon in navy blue colored thread. You can't really see it in any of the pictures, but the border is green, and I did the same geometric meander from the red triangles in the green border, in a green thread.

Surf's Up DUDE!

This cute surfer strippy quilt was brought to me by "Joy". I love it. It's so fun and different. She wanted something different in each strip, and wave/ocean related.

I did variations on waves, loops, squiggles, and spirals. The two strips that had the postcard-looking fabric I outlined the "postcards".

I used a turquoise colored thread.

Lady Madonna Quilt

One of my good friends is in the process of adopting a baby. She made this quilt for the birth mother. It is BEAUTIFUL. It is called "Lady Madonna" by Abbey Lane Quilts.

I took the flower design from the center of the quilt and replicated it randomly throughout the background. Then I echoed everything, the flowers and the applique pieces.

In the center, I quilted around the small white flower center, the outside of the pink petals, and the outside of the black petals. She used a 1/2-5/8 inch batting, so the center fluffed up beautifully. I did not quilt on any of the rest of the pink applique pieces, so they puffed up a lot, as well.

She used this beautiful minkee on the back. It is so soft and smooth. I used black thread.

Shirt Quilts

A lady brought me these 4 quilts. Her brother's friend recently passed away and he wanted to make quilts for the friend's kids.

She had me quilt a meander across all of the quilts.

They were all really cute quilts, each one was a different pattern.

They all had flannel borders and backing fabric. The quilt top centers were entirely pieced out of shirts.

I used a parchment colored thread on all 4 quilts.

Christmas Runner

This table runner was a shop sample for Gracie Lou's.

It's kind of hard to see, because the thread blends in so well, but I quilted holly leaves in an "X" pattern across the entire runner.

I used a parchment colored thread. It's a little easier to see the pattern on the back of the quilt in this picture.
