Bold and Beautiful

A lady that knows my husband's family brought me this beautiful quilt. She did it as a swap, she told me, and had written the names of the ladies on the blocks they completed. I thought it was so beautiful and bright. Not at all what I would have expected when I initially looked at it.
On the quilt top, there were 4 different colors of thread used: Forest Green, Purple, Light Blue, and Navy. I matched the thread with the color of the blocks' borders, and with the dominant color in the blocks. I did purple in the outer borders.

The following (and the one above) are all photos of the back of the quilt, so you can see the quilting a little easier. I did mostly feathers, with a loop around the border of the blocks. You can't see it very easily in the photos, but I used a variegated thread for the bobbin, which had red, yellow, blue, and green in it. It really looked nice on the mottled blue backing.

I did a large, curving feather in the outer borders.

Another of the block feather motifs.
